I have a Master's degree in Counseling and am a Licensed Marriage & Family
Therapist. As a licensed clinician, I was required to obtain 3000 hours of supervised
counseling experience and pass 2 licensing exams. In addition, I have received
post-graduate training on a variety of clinical subjects including couples counseling,
trauma, personality disorders, and crisis interventions.
For nearly a decade, I have worked in community mental health agencies and
juvenile detention facilities. I have clinical experience helping children, teens, adults,
couples and families. During this time, I have treated clients with a wide range of
problems including relationship issues, parenting difficulties, depression, anxiety,
self-esteem, anger, neglect, trauma, abuse, and addiction.
My theoretical orientation is eclectic and utilizes different methodologies depending on
the client's needs, background and issues of concern. In style, I tend to take a more
humanistic, strength-based and practical approach. I strive to provide a supportive,
therapeutic environment while also offering constructive feedback based on years of
training, clinical work, and experience.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and client with
trust being the cornerstone of this relationship. As such, my main goal is to build the
trust necessary to successfully partner with my clients to identify strategies of
change, maximize potential, and meet my clients' personal objectives.
I can't promise a "quick-fix." Therapy is hard work and requires a commitment to the
process. What I can promise is a safe, supportive environment in which to pursue
this process and that I will do my best to help you achieve your treatment goals.
